FAQ - COMPANY

What is the mission of the Fountain of Life™?

Mission Statement:   We are building a global community of like minded individuals with United Goals of Health, Happiness, and Giving Back; based on Integrity with a Shared Destiny of providing the world Premium Quality products, the quintessential Reward System and Superior Support structure.

Why did Fountain of Life™ choose Direct Selling?

Direct Selling was a compelling choice for our distribution model.  As our products bring health and happiness, and our wealth management plan brings financial freedom, we found it appropriate to deliver these products via word-of-mouth advertising. This allows us to pay individual distributors extraordinary income that woud otherwise be paid to traditional wholesalers. retailers and advertisers.

How does Fountain of Life™ contribute to the Amazon Rainforests’ protection?

Few people are aware that the açai palm tree is one of the few palm trees in existence that are cut down and destroyed at a rate of between 7,000 to 10,000 trees on a weekly basis. This is done for the purpose of acquiring a 18-inch section of the tree for the "Hearts of Palm", the same Hearts of Palm eaten in salads around the world. The remains are then used for firewood.

By creating a demand for the açai berry, Fountain of Life™ has created an economic incentive to allow the trees to remain unharmed for the indigenous people to reap the rewards of harvesting berries twice annually. We also encourage and aid in the process of planting additional trees in the Amazon Rainforest through the University of Para. This, along with our project “Amazon Life,” is one of a few ways that Fountain of Life™ gives back to the Amazon Rainforest.

Is Fountain of Life environmentally conscious?

Yes. Fountain of Life™ uses 100% replenishable sourcing solutions were available.  We use 100% recyclable glass, ship our product in recycled corrugated boxes, and is constantly striving to create additional ways to be eco-conscious in all areas of operations.

FAQ - SCIENCE*

What does the ORAC scale mean?

ORAC is an acronym for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity and was developed by Tufts University and the National Institute on Aging.  It is a test for measuring the antioxidant content of fruits and vegetables. The correlation between high antioxidant fruits and vegetables is believed to play an important role in aging. The açai blended in VANU is of the highest quality rate very high on the ORAC scale.

How many servings of fruits and vegetables does the USDA recommend per their food pyramid on a daily basis?

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recommends that all adults eat between five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables every day to maintain the appropriate food-derived antioxidant amounts for your body. Currently it is estimated that only 5% of Americans consume this amount.  Drinking VaNu provides the necessary antioxidants to help the body fight free radical damage.

What are antioxidants?

Antioxidants are compounds or substances that inhibit oxidation.  They are primarily found in plants (fruits and vegetables). Antioxidants terminate these chain reactions by removing free radicals and inhibiting other oxidation reactions. Antioxidants prevent free radicals from potentially damaging millions of healthy and functioning cells.

What are free radicals?

Free radicals are the volatile part of the oxidative process.  The chief danger comes from the damage they can do when they react with important cellular components such as DNA, or the cell membrane.  Cells may function poorly or die if this occurs.  Cells may function poorly or die if this occurs.

What is oxidative stress?

Oxidative stress is a general term used to describe damage to cells, tissues and organs.  It occurs when the free radicals in the body exceed the body’s ability to neutralize and eliminate them. The imbalance can result from a lack of antioxidants caused by poor diet and environmental or behavioral stress. Oxidative stress has been implicated in a growing list of human diseases as well as in the aging process.  Oxidation is a chemical reaction that can produce free radicals that in turn, can start a chain reactions that damage cells.

What causes excessive free radicals?

Many things in our life cause excessive free radicals. Tobacco smoke, alcohol, chemicals in the home and at work, radiation, pesticides, insecticides, pathogens, excessive amounts of sunlight, and daily stress are all prolific contributors to the formation of free radicals. To prevent free radical damage, the body has a defense system of antioxidants.

What is the expiration date on the product?

VANU has a shelf life of one (1) year unopened. Once opened, however, it must be refrigerated and consumed within 30 days.

What percentage of Açai is in VANU?

While this information is considered to be proprietary, we believe we have some of the highest percentages of açai. Additionally, our formula includes raw pulp in its natural form, not a freeze-dried form.

Is VANU flash pasteurized?

We use the latest in automation technology and flash pasteurization techniques to maintain excellent and consistent quality, while maximizing the nutritional potency of the product. Through our gentle flash pasteurization process, microbes are destroyed without affecting beneficial phytonutrients. This provides us the opportunity to give our customers the highest quality product while adhering to safe food manufacturing processes.

Does VANU contain natural or un-natural preservatives?

We strive to have the highest quality product on the market. VANU is natural, all organic, preservative-free and gives real results. We are proud to note that our products are free from sodium benzoate and synthetic ascorbic acid.

Does VANU have any added flavors to enhance taste?

No! We have chosen to leave our product all natural.

Where is VANU manufactured?

VANU is manufactured in a state-of-the-art facility in Dallas, Texas, which maintains high standards and all of the required certifications for food product manufacturing.

Does VANU have any ingredients other than food products?

No! All ingredients within VANU’s Superblend of Superfoods formula are of the highest quality. All ingredients are listed on our label on every bottle and on our website. 100% natural and preservative free. In addition to the açai, VANU also contains four other powerful superfoods including:

Cupuaçu
The cupuaçu (pronounced koo-poo-ah-sue), a relative of the cacao plant, is a melon-sized fruit with a husk-covered coconut-like shell. Its taste has been described as a combination of chocolate, bananas and passion fruit. Cupuaçu is packed with antioxidant phytonutrients and is high in flavonoids, plant pigments found in fruits and vegetables. Like their better-known chemical cousins, the carotenes, flavonoids possess amazing antioxidant benefits.

Cacao
Cacao beans come from the fruit of the cacao tree that grows in tropical rainforests. Raw cacao, the uncooked form of chocolate, has some of the highest antioxidant values of all the natural foods in the world. It is a good source of minerals like magnesium, sulfur, calcium, iron, zinc, copper, potassium and manganese, as well as B Vitamins.

Camu Camu
Camu Camu, a bush that grows in the Peruvian Rainforest, produces a cherry-sized fruit with purplish-red skin and a yellow pulp. The fruit has 30 to 60 times more vitamin C than an orange. It is also an excellent source of potassium and other powerful phytochemicals with healthful benefits, including the amino acids serine, valine and leucine.

Goji Berries
The goji berry (sometimes called the wolfberry) has been consumed in China for thousands of years for its medicinal benefits. In 2006, Time Magazine called the goji berry the “Breakout Superfruit of the Year.” One of the most nutritionally dense foods on the planet, goji berries contain ten times more antioxidants than blueberries and 19 essential and non-essential amino acids. The berries are rich in Vitamins C, E and B, and contain more beta-carotene and carotenoids than carrots.

Agave
Although sweeter than sugar, agave syrup has a much lower glycemic index, which means it causes only a gentle rise in blood sugar, rather than the “sugar rush” and subsequent “crash” which many people experience when they eat sugar. Many people who are sensitive to sugar, including some diabetics, can tolerate agave. Agave syrup is concentrated from the nectar that is produced abundantly in the thick, succulent leaves of the agave plant, which grows naturally throughout Mexico, where it is called the “tree of life and abundance” and is traditionally used in celebration and ceremony.

Vanilla
Our Indonesian Vanilla is unheated and organic – and 100% pure. It’s composed almost entirely of the tiny little black seeds you find inside the vanilla bean. These seeds are where all the flavor and taste reside. This is precisely why the powder delivers such strong, robust vanilla flavor and texture.

FAQ - PRODUCT

What differentiates the Fountain of Life™ product and compensation plan?

From the time of its conception, Fountain of Life™ has aimed to create a superior product and to fix convoluted compensation plans in the direct marketing industry. So we set out on a mission to find the highest quality ingredients in the Amazon Rainforest. We then formulated a product that contains five organic superfoods. This product, when taken properly, creates a feeling of real difference, which compels you to want to share it with friends and loved ones. Our Product is a Superblend of Superfoods!

What is VANU?

VANU is an exotic blend of five superfoods that all originate from the richest areas in the Amazon Rainforest and China. Our primary superfood is the açai berry, which is high in antioxidants. Formulated with other superfoods, including camu camu, cupuacu, goji berry, and cacao, VANU provides a balanced amount of phytonutrients, flavonoids and antioxidants that maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.

Why do so many people feel a real difference when drinking VANU?

We have formulated VANU to include only the highest quality products. It is the synergistic combination of the premium ingredients in our VANU formula that compounds the positive effects of each unique ingredient. When blended together, you get an amazing product.

What is Açai?

Açai is a dark purple berry that is larger than a blueberry, but smaller than a grape. It is comprised of a large seed that is coated with a rich pulp. Scientific experts have documented açai as the most powerful superfood that maintains one of the highest antioxidant values known to man.

Where does Açai grow?

Açai is commonly found in Brazil and grows on exotic trees deep in the Amazon Rainforest. These beautiful palm trees grow as tall as 30 meters. Açai has been a main staple for the indigenous people of the Amazon for hundreds of years. Traveling on the Amazon River, you will see many villages with an abundance of açai palms, which help feed the villagers.

Are Açai palm trees the same trees that Heart of Palm is harvested from?

Yes, Heart of Palm is cultivated from the açai tree. The process for cultivation is to cut down and destroy the palm tree in order to get to the Heart of Palm. Through our relationships in Brazil, we have helped develop a program to harvest açai twice per year from the same trees; the trees remain intact and are not cut down. By doing this, we are helping to prevent deforestation in the Amazon Rainforest.

Is VANU certified organic?

Fountain of Life™ has gone to extreme lengths to ensure that all ingredients are of the highest quality. We are currently in the process of acquiring USDA certified organic, Orthodox Union certified kosher and enzymatic certifications.

How much should I consume on a daily basis?

There is currently no USDA guideline on daily açai consumption. Antioxidant research suggests consumption of at least three to five thousand ORAC units daily will significantly impact antioxidant activity. We recommend 1-2 ounces in the morning and 1-2 ounces at early evening to fulfill your daily need. However, it is our recommendation that you start by consuming a little more and taper off until you find your level of need.
